Description:

Become a school counselor to proactively support children, teens and families. Work from a data-driven perspective to guide academic, career, social and emotional aspects of student success. Learn comprehensive strategies to develop, manage and evaluate methods of intervention to lead effective school counseling programming.

The school counseling program builds upon a core of psychological and educational foundations and specialization areas including counseling theory, group process, appraisal, and vocational development and decision-making.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.


    Applicants are required to have a bachelor’s or master’s degree/advanced certificate. A cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better is recommended for applicants to be competitive in the application process.



    All international transcripts must be verified through a World Education Services (WES) credit evaluation as part of your application.

    Test Scores:
    • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 79]

    Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores are optional for admission. For those students who have a GPA below a 3.0, it is highly recommended.
